An Adele fan who proposed to her boyfriend on stage during the opening night of the singer’s world tour has spoken about how her hit song Someone Like You saved their relationship.

Hayley Consuegra, 34, was invited onto the stage at Belfast‘s SSE Arena on Monday after the songstress asked whether any women in the audience wanted to make a Leap-Year proposal.

Heartwarming video footage shows the moment her boyfriend of 10 years Neil Pringle, 47, said ‘yes’ after Adele encouraged the 11,000-strong audience to chant ‘Come on Neil’.

Ms Consuegra, a sales manager, has now revealed that she won her boyfriend back after a break-up by sending him one of Adele‘s songs.

‘It funny because we actually broke up for a while, but we got back together after I sent him a link to Adele’s song ‘Someone Like You’, she told MailOnline.

‘I had seen it on the Brits and it make me think of him. Adele was a big part of us getting back together. She has really written the words to our story.’

The 34-year-old said that she had told her boyfriend that she would ‘love to get married’ in the near future during a romantic dinner before the gig.

‘We had been out for dinner earlier in the evening and we had a long chat about our future. I told him that I would love to get married,’ she said.

‘He said he definitely wanted to down the line. It was a really lovely conversation. He told me that he knew we would be together for the rest of our lives.

‘Obviously I then had it all in my head, so when Adele asked if any women in the audience would want to propose to their boyfriend I out my hand straight up, but I never thought in a million years I would get picked.

‘Holding her hand gave me the confidence to do it. It was incredible. Probably the best moment of my life. I can’t believe it.’

Ms Consuegra, who is originally from Essex but now lives outside Edinburgh with her boyfriend, said she was in a state of shock as soon as she went onto the stage on Monday night.

‘It was terrifying, but Adele was saying how she gets nervous as well. I was just so happy to be standing there with Adele. It was worthwhile, a once in a lifetime opportunity.

‘When I came off the stage Neil just hugged and kissed me. We were hugging for the rest of the concert.’

In mobile phone footage of the proposal, the 34-year-old can be heard saying she had already mustered up the courage to ask earlier in the day – but he had said ‘maybe in a little while’.

Calling him out in the audience, Adele yelled out: ‘You need to say a proper yes, bruv. You have to say yes.’

And as the crowd got behind Adele and started playfully booing Neil, she joked, ‘Oh God, they’re turning. Oh my God.’

Adele was seen leaping around the stage after and then invited herself to the wedding – before warning the man that she would him her DVD cover if he didn’t go through with it.

Ms Consuegra later tweeted, saying: ‘@Adele thank you for tonight. you wrote the words to our story.i had the courage stood next to you.thank you for being part of our memories.’

The couple have said their family are ‘ecstatic’ and they are hoping that Adele will perform at their their wedding.

‘We would love for Adele to sing at our wedding. Our first dance will definitely be to One and Only, Ms Consuegra said.

‘I really just want to say thank you so much to Adele, I will probably never get to speak to her again, but I want her to know how much it all means to me.’

The pair met in Spain in 2005 when Mr Pringle was working as a bar and Ms Consuegra was a radio DJ.
