On September 3rd Lil Wayne sent out a tweet that strongly suggested he was retiring.
“I AM NOW DEFENSELESS AND mentally DEFEATED & I leave gracefully and thankful I luh my fanz but I’m dun,” he wrote.
On Tuesday, September 13, the rap superstar appeared “Skip and Shannon: Undisputed” and explained why he felt that way at the time.
“This was a tweet after an argument,” he told Skip Bayless. “I was at my tipping point over [stalled contract negotiations with Birdman].”

Shannon Sharpe asked Wayne if the beef with Birdman was real or manufactured.
“This is business,” the “Lollipop” hit maker replied.
“When it businesses involved … I have a family. I have kids. I have a mother.
We got bills. Once the business is right, then everything is right.
So, I did feel that way. And I didn’t take the tweet down because I said I still feel that way.
And until something is done about it, then maybe it will change.”
Wayne added that there’s no way that he can ever work with Birdman again.
“Gimme mine and I’ll walk off free, smiling.”
Artists like Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Young Thug publicly threw their support behind Wayne after the tweet.
The Young Money Records boss said he expected that from Drizzy, but was surprised by Thug and Kendrick coming to his defense because he doesn’t know them as well.
