A 42-year old man, Suleiman Umar, has dragged his ex-lover to court, demanding repayment of N250,000 he spent on her in the course of their relationship.
Umar was, however, not present at the Upper Area Court in Abuja, on Friday to prosecute the case against his ex-lover, Talatu Danliti, 28.
Umar had in his petition, prayed the court to compel the defendant to pay him the money, being part of the money he spent on her.
When the case was mentioned and the complaint was not in court, counsel to the defendant, Mr Mashkur Salisu prayed the court to strike out the case.
He told the court, presided over by Justice Adamu Waliki to strike out the case as it appeared the plaintiff was not interested in the case.
“Pursuant to order 9 of the Area Court Procedure, I pray the court to strike out the claim for want of diligent prosecution.”
In his ruling, Waliki said: “ in the interest of justice and fair hearing, I rule that the case be adjourned for definite mention.“
The case was consequently, adjourned to Oct. 25 for definite mention.
