NECO Results: Hundreds of Post-UTME Candidates To Lose Varsity Admissions This Year

Hundreds of successful results of candidates who sat for Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (post-UTME) into some of the universities in Nigeria may be wasted owing to delay in the release of June/July 2011 National Examinations Council (NECO) results.
This is because some of the universities that have concluded their post-UTME examinations have set between August 15 and 17 as deadline for uploading of their awaiting results for pre-admission screening.
Some of these universities are University of Ilorin; University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (UNAAB) and Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU).
However, the NECO Registrar, Professor Promise Okpala, when contacted, said that it would take the council two more weeks to release the results.
The candidates who chose University of Ilorin have been informed that the pre-admission screening exercise would commence on August 18, 2011 in Ilorin, Lagos and Minna centres.
The statement reads in part: “The University of Ilorin invites candidates who have applied for admissions into the undergraduate degree programmes of the university for the 2011/2012 academic session to upload the required information for the screening exercise between Monday, July 18, 2011 and Saturday, August 6, 2011.”
Any awaiting results must be uploaded on or before Monday, August 15, 2011, when the portal shall be closed. The pre-admission screening exercise will commence on August 18, 2011, at Ilorin, Lagos and Minna centres.”
