GREMIO have been ordered to play the second leg of their Brazilian cup final away from home after the manager’s daughter invaded the pitch after their semi-final win.
Sitting in the dugout alongside gaffer Renato Gauto during the closing minutes of the match, his model daughter Carolina Portaluppi, 22, joined the on-field celebrations after their win against Cruzeiro.
But Brazil’s Superior Court of Sporting Justice has punished the move and have also slapped a £7,000 fine on the club.
The court released a statement saying:
“Gremio were punished this afternoon, November 16, for Carol Portaluppi’s pitch invasion after the Brazilian Cup semi-final match between Gremio and Cruzeiro.
“The tribunal is not judging a father’s love for his daughter but for an act that is not permitted.”
Portaluppi, who is no stranger to uploading saucy snaps on her Instagram, has refused to comment on social media but has been bombarded with angry messages from supporters.
Gremio’s reward for beating Cruzeiro 2-0 is a clash against Atletico Mineiro in a two-legged final on November 23 and 30.
The club have revealed that they will appeal the punishment with their home tie supposed to be on the second-leg.
