A BRITISH man is in a critical condition after he was shot in the head during a robbery on Christmas Day in Antigua.
Chris Tester, 37, who works at Birchell Marine Ltd in Torquay, Devon, was caught up in the robbery at his parent’s restaurant.
His friends reported he was was shot in the head and is in a critical condition in hospital.
They are urgently trying to raise funds to fly him back to the UK and say that because of the nature of his injury they need to raise the money and fly him home as soon as possible.
Charlotte Williams said: “Time is of the essence.
“Please please can you help us to raise funds for him. They need to raise £90,000.
“It will save his life.
“Please help us perform a Christmas miracle!”
His parents Tony and Jill run The Boxer Shack restaurant in Antigua where the robbery took place.
They are well loved members of the expat community there.
ABS Television in Antigua reported on its Facebook page that:
“37-yrs-old Christopher Texter of the United Kingdom is currently at the Mount St. Johns Medical Center in critical condition, after receiving a gunshot wound to his head during an attempted robbery at Old Road.
“It is alleged that a man approximately 5ft 8 inches in height, slim built, wearing a black hoodie and mask, attempted to rob his family, when a struggle ensued.
“During the struggle he was shot in his head, and was transported by the EMS to the hospital.
“The incident occurred around 10:30 pm on Sunday.
“He arrived on the island on December 10 and was due to leave on December 29.
“Investigations are currently ongoing into the matter.”
