THE body of an ‘abused’ woman who fled her ‘violent’ husband has been found more than 600 miles from where she disappeared.
The FBI believes the remains of Rachael Madison, 44, who vanished while jogging in Florida, have been found in Tennessee.
Rachael, who went missing near Daytona Beach on November 27, had fled to the sunshine state to escape her ‘abusive’ husband Jarvis ‘Wayne’ Madison, 58.
The FBI confirms that his arrest on Friday has led to the discovery of Rachael’s body in ‘a remote area off the I-40 near Knoxville, Tennessee’.
Investigators are currently trying to positively identify the body and have notified the victim’s family.
Charles P Spencer, special agent in charge of the FBI Jacksonville Division, said:
“The thoughts and prayers of everyone in the FBI are with Ms Madison’s family.”
Despite being arrested in Clark County, Indiana, on Friday, no charges were filed against Mr Madison.
The Mail Online reports that a felony arrest warrant was issued on November 28 against him for criminal confinement.
The warrant gave authorities across the US the right to arrest Mr Madison.
Rachael had been living in Florida since November 16.
Police confirmed that Mr Madison had been calling his wife’s family asking about her whereabouts before she went missing.
He allegedly threatened to kill his wife’s aunt during one of the phone calls.
Last week, it was revealed that Mr Madison ‘stabbed’ and ‘threw acid’ at his wife before she fled their marital home.
According to police reports the 50-year-old poured acid on her tattoo leaving her with a wound on her back.
He also allegedly took Rachael hostage on November 14 when he discovered she was going to try and leave and also held a knife to her neck.
She managed to escape and fled to a local Walmart, where she called state troopers.
