A FEMALE maths teacher accused of having sex with three male high school students covered her face with a notebook as she appeared in court.
Erin McAuliffe, 25, is charged with three counts of sexual activity with students and one count of indecent behaviour with a minor.
McAuliffe shielded her face as she arrived at and left Nash County Court in North Carolina on Tuesday , ABC11 reports.
Dressed in a conservative black skirt and white blouse, her appearance was far removed from the social media photos revealed when she was arrested
The teacher refused to comment and ignored questions as she made her way into the court.
McAuliffe, who was arrested on Thursday, was a teacher at the public charter school, Rocky Mount Preparatory.
Her next court hearing date has been set for June 29 and she was released on a £120,000 bond.
McAuliffe was arrested after fellow staff from the school notified police of a possible inappropriate relationship at their campus on May 5.
This information was given to police one day after McAuliffe was removed from her post as a high school math teacher at the school.
Police said the information from the school was related to inappropriate sexually related to contact with three juvenile male students off campus.
The juveniles were ages 17, 17 and 16 at the time of the alleged incidents.
According to her LinkedIn profile, McAuliffe graduated from Methodist University in 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics.
She was hired at Rocky Mount Prep in August 2016 after a brief stint as a data analyst at a San Diego-based law firm.
McAuliffe’s social media posts suggest that she is not married and lives in Rocky Mount with a dog and a cat.
Her former school bosses said: “We have been fully cooperative with local law enforcement during the course of their handling of this matter.”
The Rocky Mount job was the first time McAuliffe worked as a teacher full-time, according to her Linkedin profile.
She also offered “after-school tutoring to help struggling students improve their critical thinking and problem-solving skills.”
McAuliffe also worked to “develop alternate enrichment activities and modifications in student programs to increase student understanding.”
